Update: I did buy the EOS 350D, read here EOS 350D
I already use Canon Camera’s for some time. It started of with a Canon EOS 5, after while of not being interested in photography I bought a Canon G2, soon followed by a Canon G5, and now a Canon EOS 300D. While surfing the net I saw that there was a new Canon EOS 350D, at about the same price where I bought my Canon 300D for sometime ago. Allthough I like the Canon 300D and the Sigma lenses that I bought for it, the pictures from the Canon G5 have something that the Canon 300D pictures don’t have, I can’t tell what really.
To be honest, I don’t really care about all the advanced features of the more expensive digital camera’s. What I like is a camera that feels good in your hands, is fast and does an excellent automatic exposure and focus job. The Canon 300D is fast enough, but the focussing and exposure has let me down more then once. Maybe because I use this Sigma 12-24 zoom mostly, and I forget that its no point and shoot camera.
The Canon EOS 350D reviews are allmost all praising the camera. The only thing some people complain about is the size of the camera, it maybe is too small. Fortunately there is a battery grip available, something that I liked to use for my Canon EOS 5.
I hope that people can find a way to update the firmware of the Canon EOS 350D with some of the stuff of the EOS 20D, like you can update the 300D firmware with some Canon EOS 10D features. I like 3200 ASA…
Is the Canon 350D worth it? Yes.
Is it worth it to exchange the Canon EOS 300D for the Canon EOS 350D? With the battery grip, and the extra megapixels, better noise reduction and higher speed, yes. If you can afford it.

Why would Canon ruin something with such potential by making it smaller??? what was the purpose for this? many photographers actually like it a little bulky. (I agree !)
Still a full plastic body.

Material is 'weird' though not horrible. A acts a little like a nail file,
leaving white marks on the body.
Viewfinder is a little small. But nothing that bothers too much.
With a fast CF card (I have cheetah 1GB 80x) the camera blazes.. and I
have not encountered problems with speed.

I was able to replace my Canon 300D with this new Canon 350D, im just probably lucky its only been one month since I bought the 300D. I had NO problem with the 300D, but just the chance to upgrade to the better 350D droved me for an exchange. I'm very happy with my new Canon 350D and content with all its features.

So it's clear, the Canon EOS 350D is a great successor to the EOS 300D, it puts right many user complaints, it delivers a smaller and lighter camera which feels better put together and delivers an increase in resolution. Image quality is just as good as the more expensive Canon EOS 20D, if you can live with the differences between the two the money saved could buy you a very nice lens. The upgrade decision for existing EOS 300D owners is definitely more difficult, the increase in resolution from six to eight megapixels really isn't that significant but some of the new features, improved performance and reduction size and weight are.
