I already own a Sony DCR DVD 101E, but this 403 makes me allmost run to the store again. Ok, you can only record a mini DVD, and thats shorter then a Mini-DV, but its easy to already have captured you footage, so its ready to edit with a PC. For my Sony 101E DVD I finally got to use Pinnacle Studio, it seems the best.
I didn’t think much of the 403, until I downloaded some footage, this sold me immediatly, it was about 1 second, but this convinced me. I read a lot of reviews about the new Sony, and people seem very enthousiastic about the Handycam.
Some technical details:
3.3 Megapixels Advanced HAD CCD
16:9 wide screen ( I like that, special with a wide angle lens)
5.1 channel Surround sound
3.3 Megapixels (don’t care I have a Digital Canon Rebel)
Carl Zeiss VarioSonnar
If you buy the handy cam, don’t forget to get an extra or larger battery, that the first thing I did for my other Sony

Some one else wrote about the 403:
I bought this camcorder almost a month ago and have been very pleased with the video quality of this product. I had planned on staying away from the MiniDVD format because of the overwhelming so so reviews, but one look at the specifications on this digicam and I had to try it. The maximum resolution of all other camera models I looked at was around 700k pixels for recording, this one has 2048k effective pixels that is what makes this camera special. I have seen video from the other sony DVD models and it wasn'teven in the same league.
Its true, this Sony 403 DVD is something….
