Google Bans Directories

Just kidding, but they should. Directories now adays are just created for webmasters and by webmasters to create to oh so mighty backlinks. Spamrectories, and they are poluting the web. Just a scam for selling pagerank, linkpop.

But where do you draw the line? Is Dmoz such a nice place? Are Yahoo listings influenced by buying a place in their directory?
